北大本科、硕士，斯德哥尔摩大学博士，著名调和分析和小波分析专家。曾任中国数学会秘书长，北大数学科学学院副院长，数学系系主任，2002年世界数学家大会组织委员会委 员。现任北大数学学院学位委员会主席，北大学术委员会委员, 中—加3x3合作数学学科中方负责人。连续多届小波及其应用国际会议主席。
