马歇尔·布朗(Marshall Brown)早年在耶鲁大学获得博士学位，现任西雅图华盛顿大学英文和比较文学教授，《现代语言季刊》(Modern Language Quarterly: A Journal of Literary History)杂志主编。主要著作包括：The Shape of German Romanticism (1979), Performanticism (1991), Turning Points: Essays in the History of Cultural Expressions (1997), The Gothic Text (2004), 并编有多卷文集。

简·布朗(Jane Brown) 早年在耶鲁大学获得博士学位，现任西雅图华盛顿大学德文和比较文学教授。主要著作包括：Goethe's Cyclical Narratives: The Unterhaltungen deutscher Ausgewanderten and Wilhelm Meisters Wanderjahre (1975), Goethe's Faust: The German Tragedy 1986), Goethe's Faust: Theater of the World (1992), Ironie und Objektivität: Aufsätze zu Goethe (1999)，并编、译多种学术著作和文学作品。
