Abstract: This is an expository talk on mathematics used in biomedicine. Past famous bio-mathematicians are introduced. Interdisciplinary research and the modelling Process are discussed modeling the lung airways is used as an example.

 

Vita: C.Y. Wang obtained B.S. from Taiwan University and Ph.D. from M.I.T. He is now Prof. of Mathematics, Physiology and Mechanical Engineering at Michigan State University. Dr. Wang published about 350 papers in fluid, solid, and biomechanics, and wrote two books (Perturbation Theory, Exact Solutions for Buckling).
