The Low Energy Neutron Source (LENS) at Indiana University is a university based pulsed neutron source based on (p,nx) reactions in Be that will operate in a long-pulse mode with a cryogenic moderator optimized for cold and very cold neutrons. LENS has a threefold mission of conducting materials research, educating the next generation of neutron scientists, and investigating new ideas in neutron instrumentation. The construction phase for LENS is now complete and regular user operations have commenced. Two instruments are currently in operation: A SANS machine which is available for user measurements and a polarized reflect meter which is currently in commissioning. In this presentation we will review the capabilities of the source and the instrumentation suite. We will also discuss the user program at LENS and the educational and outreach activities associated with the source. Finally, we will review future plans for upgrades of the source and the instrumentation.
