Abstract: The talk introduces new techniques to distinguish the inner near-collisions or the collisions with specific differences for a series of MACs (Message Authentication Codes) with birthday attack complexity. These techniques can result in distinguishing attacks for these MACs, subkey recovery attacks for specific MACs (MD5-MAC and Alpha-MAC) , and forgery attack on MACs based on the CBC encryption mode block cipher and the Alred construction.
