Profile of Dr. Yuichiro Nakaya
He received Ph. D of electrical engineering at the University of Tokyo and joined Central Research Laboratory, Hitachi, Ltd. in 1993. He was involved in international standardization of video coding technology and development of digital video coding systems. He was in Digital Media Systems Laboratory, Hitachi America, Ltd from 2000 to 2002 and engaged in development of video processing and wireless communication systems. He is currently a department manager and  involved in development of digital media processing technology.

ABSTRACT
Due to the explosive increase in the amount of accessible information through the Internet, the demand for fast and human-friendly systems for collection, retrieval, and presentation of various kinds of information is increasing.  In this presentation, we will present technologies for collecting real world information using sensors connected to the network, searching for the very information that one wishes to get from a massive amount of digital media data, and presenting information in an intelligible way.
