Dr. El Fakhri is Co-Director of the Division of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging (Research), Director of the MGH PET Core, and Director of Molecular Imaging Physics and Instrumentation at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is co-Director of the JPNM Physics and Instrumentation and is an Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. El Fakhri graduated with his M.Eng. from Ecole Centrale, France, and M.S. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at University of Texas, both in 1994. One year later, he got his M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from University of Paris, France, where he received his Ph.D. in Medical Physics in 1998.
Dr. El Fakhri’s research interests are quantitative simultaneous PET-MR, in-room PET monitoring of proton therapy, simultaneous dynamic dual tracer SPECT and PET, absolute quantitation of myocardial blood flow using dynamic PET, optimization of whole-body oncologic PET imaging for lesion detection and quantitation, novel physical compensation methods in SPECT and PET for estimation and detection tasks.
