Abstract:
This lecture will discuss the structural studies of peptides and proteins with particular focus on membrane active peptides and proteins to counter the ever increasing problem of antibiotic resistance. His work on peptide fragments of large proteins with antimicrobial properties will be presented, including the development of a novel peptide based on antimicrobial strategy.
The discussion will cover the use of several different physical techniques such as NMR, FTIR, CD spectroscopy, SPR etc. Particular focus will be placed on the development of FTIR spectroscopy as a tool for proteomics research and for monitoring protein-protein interactions.
