  简介:
Abstract: Recent emergence of diffusion weighted MRI methodology (e.g. diffusion tensor imaging, or DTI) provides us with new means to characterize the structural connectivity of the human brain. To date, however, most DTI acquisitions have been based on single-shot acquisition strategies to avoid physiological-motion induced artifacts. As a result, DTI images often have limited spatial resolution and experience noted spatial distortions. In this presentation, our recent effort on achieving high resolution with minimal spatial distortions in DTI will be discussed. These new imaging methods will lead to greatly improved characterization of the neuronal connectivity in the human brain, and potentially fill the gap in our understandings between the brain structure and human behavior. It is also hoped that these advanced diffusion MRI acquisition strategies will allow us to better investigate various neuropsychiatric brain disorders believed to have connectivity impairments. Several related translational applications will be discussed.
