  简介:
报告摘要:
Carbon dioxide capture and sequestration and storage (CCS) has been proposed as a mechanism to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the industrial use of fossil fuels. Although injection of CO2 into geological formations has been applied the scale of CCS required to significantly reduce atmospheric emissions is very much greater than current practice. The scale and other issues potentially increase the financial, social and environmental risk substantially and an intensive research effort is required to identify, assess and mitigate these risks. The Australian National Low Emission Coal R&D (ANLEC) organization, a joint government-industry program, is funding studies of post combustion capture (PCC), oxy-combustion and other approaches to CCS. In this talk the ANLEC program will be described, and projects on risk assessment in amine-based PCC and oxy combustion will be discussed.
报告人简介:
Peter Nelson is Science Leader (Environmental Risk) in the Australian National Low Emission Coal Research and Development  (ANLECR&D) organization. Professor Nelson trained as a physical chemist at the University of Sydney, and his research expertise is in the assessment and control of pollution and on environmental issues associated with energy use, with emphasis on toxic organics from industrial and vehicular sources, trace elements and waste management. He has published widely in the scientific literature (~ 250 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers), and in major commissioned reports for government and industry. Much of this work was done in close co-operation either directly with industry (eg, ARC-Linkage projects with RioTinto; CRC program; Australian Coal Association Research Program, NSW Power Generators) or government (eg, with the Australian Greenhouse Office; Department of Environment Water Heritage & the Arts, New South Wales Department of Environment Climate Change & Water).
