演讲者简介:
Shu Yuan is an associate professor of English and the director of Asian Studies Program at Texas Tech University. He received his B.A. in English Language and Literature at Nanjing University, his M.A. in English Literature (worked on the 18th Century English novel with the late Professor Fan Chunzhong) at Nanjing University, and his combined Ph. D in English and American Studies at Indiana University at Bloomington. He teaches contemporary American literature and culture at both undergraduate and graduate levels, having directed M.A. theses and Ph.D dissertations on postmodern American literature, Vietnam War literature, and Asian American literature. His teaching repertoire also includes critical theory, particularly transnational and globalization discourses at the graduate level. He has published articles in journals varying from Cultural Critique to Journal of Popular Film and Television, from College Literature to MELUS. He is now finishing his book manuscript on “Empire and Cosmopolitics: Technology, Discourse, and Chinese American Literature,” and co-editing one essay volume on transnational American studies with Donald Pease at Dartmouth College (accepted and forthcoming at Dartmouth College Press) and another volume with Otto Heim and Kendall Johnson at Hong Kong University, which is based on their collaborative symposium on “Oceanic Archives and Transnational American Studies” in Hong Kong in June 2012 (accepted and forthcoming at Hong Kong University Press). |
