Abstract:
Theoretical, physics based, computer models and laboratory and field instrumentation for measuring the Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF) of surfaces will be presented.  Applications to virtual reality simulations and industrial process control are described.

Dr. Jafolla is President of Surface Optics Corporation and as Chief Scientist is working in a number of areas to exploit the synergism of the combination of measurements, analytic and coating technologies available at SOC. Dr. Jafolla is also working in the area of spectral/spatial algorithm development and exploitation. He is applying these techniques to applications for hyperspectral systems for material/resource identification and mapping, medical, agricultural and industrial applications.
