Clothing plays a very important role in our life. Protection of the human body is the highest priority for protective clothing. If the protection is insufficient, the users may be exposed in dangerous situations. To address sufficient protection, protective clothing is often designed and engineered as a thick and heavy system. However, such a design concept has led to serious heat stress issues. In this talk, the way how we protect the human body against trauma in cold environments and protection against various hazards like hot liquid splashes and steam are outlined and discussed in detail. The whole talk will be addressed from a combined clothing and physiological perspective.
