Copenhagen-Tsinghua Seminar on Livable Cities

哥本哈根-清华宜居城市研讨会

Lecture I: Livable Cities – the Copenhagen Experience

Speaker: Mr. Frank Jensen, Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Denmark

Abstract: The LM will share some of his experiences with the political processes leading the way to a liveable city, and give an insight into his understanding of what a liveable city is. Furthermore, he will argue that investing in a sustainable city makes a good business case.

Lecture II: People-oriented design: from Copenhagen to China – the international practice of Danish architecture

Speaker: Rasmus Duong-Grunnet, Head of Business Development Asia, Schmidt/Hammer/Lassen

Abstract: Why do we talk about people before buildings and how do you actually apply holistic design to buildings in China? In this short presentation Rasmus will talk about our studios experiences from Copenhagen, China and elsewhere, and use the architecture of Schmidt Hammer Lassen to show how we understand people-oriented design and why we talk about people before buildings. Rasmus will show projects from both Copenhagen and China and talk about how we are applying lessons learned in Copenhagen when designing projects here in China. Rasmus will touch up projects like The Crystal and the Royal Library in Copenhagen, The Shanghai EXPO Green Valley, Andersen Garden in Beijing, and Ningbo Home of Staff.

Lecture III: “Holistic planning and urban design”

Speaker: Søren Hansen, Project Director in Rambøll

Abstract: Sustainability has been the reigning approach to urban and building development the last many years. But times are constantly changing and so is the demands for planning and design. Climate changes together with a financial crisis has put new demands to our perception of planning and design. Multi-functionality and flexibility of solution as well as a business development approach to planning are now a few of a set of new parameters to add on to out physical planning systems. A holistic approach to planning and urban design is required to achieve successful urban environments.12.5.jpg
