报告内容简介:The presentation will give a brief introduction of the RWTH Aachen and its energy related research institutions. The Institute of Power Plant Technology, Steam and Gas Turbines will be described. Selected examples of research projects related to turbomachinery (gas turbines, turbochargers and steam turbines) will be given. In particular the high pressure test rig for gas turbine combustors will be introduced. The presentation will finally give a view to a demonstration project for integrated small scale power systems which may be seen in the future replacing large scale power generation in some areas.
报告人简介: Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Manfred Wirsum is director of the institute of Power Plant Technology, Steam and Gas Turbines (IKDG) of RWTH-Aachen / Germany. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Stuttgart / Germany and Chemical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin/Madison, USA. He earned his Ph.D. in 1997 at the Institute of Energy Technology, University of Siegen / Germany with research in the field of power plant technology, particularly fluidized bed combustion.
At the University of Siegen Prof. Wirsum was senior engineer between 1995 and 2000. At that time he conducted research related to power plants with fluidized bed systems. Several international research projects together with partners from China, Bulgaria, Russia and D.P.R. Korea were carried out.
Prof. Wirsum is also a scholar of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) and a research scholar of the Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). He completed his academic work with a habilitation in the field of „Thermal Energy Technology“ and since then he served as an Assoc Prof. at the University of Siegen / Germany.
Between 2002 and 2010 Prof. Wirsum was employed by ALSTOM Power (Switzerland) as a performance and cycle specialist for gas turbines. From 2005 onward he was leading the “Advanced Technologies” at ALSTOM Technology Centre and engaged in the development of numerous future oriented power generation technologies, among which the following shall be mentioned:
-           Development of technology elements for large gas turbines including turbo-machinery optimization, burner development and atmospheric combustion testing. Development of technologies for steam turbines and generators.
-           Analysis and optimization of conventional and CO2-reduced power cycles. Development of novel CO2-capture processes for power plants. Energy storage systems and solar thermal power
-           Development of novel sensors and diagnostic methods for gas and steam turbines. Reconditioning processes and laser based manufacturing processes
Since November 2010 Prof. Wirsum is a full professor at RWTH Aachen / Germany. His main research activities are dedicated to gas turbine combustion – particularly hydrogen combustion, to aerodynamic and thermal analysis and optimization of turbomachines and to power generation processes in general. In particular the integration of renewable energy into the electricity supply infrastructure is in his focus. At RWTH Aachen Prof. Wirsum runs a high pressure combustion lab, several compressor and turbine test rigs and a hot turbocharger test rig at his institute, some of them in collaboration with industry.
On the foundation of a long term cooperation with Tsinghua University and with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (projects on circulating fluidized bed technology for coal combustion and on low emission small scale grate stoves for the Chinese market), Prof. Wirsum became a honorary professor of Tsinghua University in 2011 as part of the 1000 people plan.
