In this presentation, exploration of the climate impacts of greener north will first be introduced. In this investigation, a series of global numerical modeling experiments were conducted. The results show an increase in temperature and precipitation associated witha greener north, contributing to Arctic amplification.The warmer temperature is mainly caused by the increase in vegetation coverage and the enhanced precipitation can be attributed to the increasedvegetation production.The large changes observed in the polar regionslead to an emergence of high demands for accurate high-resolution modeling of polar weather and climate. Our efforts on high resolution mesoscale modeling studies will be presented. The realtime weather forecast has served the general public, the policy-decisions, andthe scientific community for more than a decade. The downscaled climate data have been proved to be animporvedforcing for projecting changes in glacial and hydrological runoff in Alaska.The presentation will be concluded by introducing an on-going modeling research on surface mass balance for the Antarctic Peninsula.
