Abstract:Stellar models provide theoretical description of stars but rely on free parameters. We know these free parameters mostly from the Sun, but only a few tests have been done on other stars. Kepler eclipsing binaries,with accurate measurements of solar-like oscillations and precise estimate of the mass, offer a great opportunity to examine stellar models. We do modeling and seismic analysis for Kepler eclipsing binaries to constrain the free parameters in convection zone used in the evolutionary model, and two free parameters in the asteroseismic model for correcting surface term.

Background: 2008-2013: PhD student, Department of Astronomy, Beijing Normal University 2013-2016: Postdoc, Huairou Solar Observatory, National Astronomical Observatory 2016-Now: Postdoc, Sydney Institute for Astronomy, University of Sydney Research: I entered into astronomy from 2008 as a PhD student in Beijing Normal University. I was supervised by Prof. Shaolan Bi and worked on the effects of rotation and magnetic fields on stellar evolution with theoretical models. In 2013, I joined Huairou Solar Observatory which is part of National Astronomical Observatoryand worked on solar and stellar activity for more than two years. Then, I moved to Sydney in 2016. My current research is using Kepler and K2 data to study solar-like oscillations in low-mass dwarfs and giants. |
