Abstract: In the coming decade, an array of galaxy and cluster surveys will significantly improve observational tests of cosmological models to explain the accelerated cosmic expansion. In this talk, I will review some recent progresses in this area. In particular, I will discuss studies, based on cosmological simulations, on modified gravity models, how future observations can help to test these models, and some practical limitations that need to be overcome before accurate constraints can be obtained.

Bio: Baojiu graduated and obtained his undergraduate degree from Tsinghua University in 2004, MPhil degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2006, and PhD degree from University of Cambridge in 2009. He was a Junior Research Fellow at Queens' College, University of Cambridge between 2009 and 2011, before moving to Durham University as a Lecturer, where he became Senior Lecturer in 2014 and Reader in 2016. He is currently an Associate Professor at Durham University following a recent conversion to US academic rank system. Baojiu has been supported by the Royal Astronomical Society, UK Science and Technology Facilities Council and more recently the European Research Council.
