报告摘要:LHCb is one of the four large detectors operated at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN (Geneva). The experiment was built to precisely measure the properties of rare b- and c-hadron decays. Many of these decays are the result of quantum-loop corrections present in the Standard Model. The precise measurement of the decay properties of b- and c-hadrons opens a window to search for New Physics: New heavy particle could enter virtual quantum-loops and could alter the observables with respect to their Standard Model values. The precise measurement of observables of rare b- and c-hadron decays together with the comparison to the Standard Model prediction allow to search for new effects. The seminar will present the most recent LHCb results and will discuss the implication on New Physics models. The talk will conclude with an outlook on the ongoing LHCb upgrade project.
报告人简介:U. Uwer is professor for physics at Heidelberg University. He studied physics at the RWTH Aachen where he also obtained his PhD in 1994. As doctoral student he participated in the L3 experiment at LEP. His doctoral thesis describes the measurement of the properties of the Z boson with L3. After his doctorate he was awarded a CERN research fellowship and continued his work at the L3 experiment. In 1996 he joined the HERA-B experiment at DESY (Hamburg) and became research assistant at Humboldt University Berlin. In HERA-B he participated in the construction of Outer Tracking system. In 2001 he was appointed professor at Heidelberg University. Since then, he is participating in the LHCb experiment at CERN. His group contributed to the construction of the LHCb Outer Tracker and to the LHCb data-analysis. Since 2014 U. Uwer coordinates the construction of the new Scinitillating Fibre Tracker. He is the coordinator of the German LHCb activities.
