Steve Bryce was appointed Vice President of Fuels Technology in Shell’s Projects & Technology organisation in January 2014.  He is also the Vice President responsible for Shell Technology Centre Hamburg where he is based.

Steve has held several leadership roles in R&D and marketing for fuels, lubricants and LPG since joining Shell in 1988 as a research scientist.

From 1993-1997, Steve specialised as a consultant for future and specialist fuels including management of the R&D to support Shell’s technical partnerships in motorsport including Scuderia Ferrari. In this role, Steve also forged alliances with leading automotive OEMs to support market development for auto LPG. In 1997, Steve moved to Greece to lead local lubricants marketing for consumer and B2B products before becoming team leader for Commercial Marketing in the region, including the development of loyalty schemes for commercial drivers. He subsequently led the implementation of pan-European organisation for metalworking lubricants before a return to a focus on business development for LPG products in 2002.

A new challenge in 2005 saw Steve leading a Global Solutions team across six locations worldwide, to develop and deliver technology strategies and programmes in support of the B2B businesses.

Following its acquisition by Shell in 2008, Steve moved to Montreal, Canada as President of Shell Cansolv - an innovative, technology-centered company that offers high efficiency capture solutions for the removal of sulphur dioxide (SO2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) from gas streams in various industrial applications. He returned to the UK in 2012 as Vice President Continuous Improvement to accelerate the global deployment of continuous improvement programmes for Shell Projects & Technology.

Steve was born in the United Kingdom and is married with two children.  He holds undergraduate and PhD degrees in engineering from the University of Glasgow.  Steve’s interests include golf, travel, and supporting Coventry City football club.
