报告摘要:In this non-technical talk I will trace the influence that physicists and mathematicians have had in the biological sciences, and vice versa, emphasizing how work by truly interdisciplinary scientists over the past few hundred years has shaped modern biology as we know it in the year 2009. 报告人简介:Michael C. Mackey 是加拿大 McGill 大学 Joseph Morley Drake Professor of Physiology. 他分别于 1963 年获得数学学士和 1968 年获得生理学和生物物理学博士学位. 1971 年至今在 McGill 大学生理学系任教, 1982 年在 McGill 生理学系创建非线性动力学中心并一直担任主任. Mackey 教授的研究兴趣非常广泛, 包括生理学, 统计物理和非线性动力学等诸多领域. Mackey 教授曾担任加拿大理论生物学学会主席 (1984-1988),  美国生物数学学会委员会成员 (1988-1991), 并于 2008 年被选为生物数学学会主席
