演讲题目:Embodied Being: Evolution and the Emergence of the Human Person 提纲: Professor Hurlbut starts off with two brief vignettes from human life, one about a private 747 jet, and the other about a hungry child in Africa, both of which raise questions related to the concept of human dignity. What could it possibly mean as to its course, values, human goods, human powers and sublime possibilities? Alongside the self-ascriptions that might issue from inward experience, there is a new parsing of its meaning in terms of the sciences, and more especially via the changing role of medicine... 演讲人: William B. Hurlbut is Consulting Professor, Department of Neurology and Neurological Science, Stanford University Medical Center. His specialties include: ethical issues of advancing biomedical technology; biological basis of moral awareness; integration of theology and philosophy of biology. He has been a member of the president’s Council on Bioethics, since 2002. He is author of Altered Nuclear Transfer, a proposed technological solution to the moral controversy over embryonic stem cell research. 主请人:人文学院哲学系王晓朝教授 主持人:人文学院哲学系肖巍教授
