Professor Novikov is Fields Medalist (1970) and Laureate of the Wolf Prize in Mathematics (2005). He has made fundamental and pioneering contributions to algebraic and differential topology, and to Mathematical physics, notably the introduction of algebraic-geometric methods to the study of completely integrable systems. Professor Novikov is a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and foreign associate of the National Academy of Sciences USA. |
