  简介:
Flow inside electronic systems, passenger cabins, clean rooms, operation theatres and other ventilated enclosed spaces are characterized by three-dimensionality and turbulence.  Good indoor air quality and thermal comfort depend on air flow pattern, geometrical configuration, locations of supply and exhaust ports, internal partitions etc. These flows are generally studied by considering flow through rectangular enclosures with partition. In this talk the first half deals with the experimental study of three-dimensional flow through an enclosure with central partition. Measurements with five hole probe and flow visualization study with smoke wire technique are described. In the second half the complex unsteady flow is computed using various models of turbulence. It is found that the SST k-omega model is able to capture the experimentally observed features of the flow like periodical shifting of vortices behind the partition and the exit of flow with swirl.
