报告简介: The ability to detect the carrier-envelope phase evolution of the pulse train emitted by a mode-locked laser has led to the field of femtosecond combs. Femtosecond combs have solved the problem of optical frequency metrology, enabled optical atomic clocks and been essential to the development of attosecond technology. I will give an introduction to the basic concepts of femtosecond combs. I will discuss the quantum limits to the stability of the comb and progress towards merging comb technology with pulse shaping to achieve optical arbitrary waveform generation.

Cundiff is a Fellow of JILA, a Physicist with the NIST Quantum Physics Division and a Professor Adjoint in the University of Colorado Department of Physics and Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. He is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America, the American Physical Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He received a Humboldt Research Award in 2010 and the Meggers Award from the Optical Society of America in 2011. |
