Latest developments in CT include the introduction of new generation of CT hardware and they include the introduction of iterative image reconstruction into clinical routine. In most cases the CT image quality is increased or the patient dose is decreased. In the future, motion management will play a significant role both for clinical CT imaging as well as for other CT areas. This specifically includes the possibility to determine patient motion and to compensate for patient motion. This lecture discusses some of the highlights. Among those are the latest hardware developments of GE, Philips, Siemens, and Toshiba. It will discuss motion-compensated imaging for cone-beam CT and it will present a new x-ray modality for low dose 4D interventional imaging which provides tomographic fluoroscopy images at the same dose as today’s projective fluoroscopy. If time allows, a new iterative image reconstruction concept, termed alpha image reconstruction, will be introduced and discussed. |
