  简介:
Abstract
Using a combination of electron back-scattering diffraction and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy data, a phase segmentation procedure was developed to comprehensively distinguish polygonal ferrite, martensite, and ferrite in granular bainite and bainitic ferrite in a thermo-mechanically processed low-Si, high-Al transformation induced plasticity steel (TRIP). The efficacy of the phase segmentation procedure was verified by transmission electron microscopy. The variation in carbon content between granular bainite and bainitic ferrite was explained on the basis of carbon partitioning during their growth. A comparison of the crystallography of ferrite in granular bainite and bainitic ferrite morphologies, both of which were simultaneously present in a base and a Nb-Ti containing TRIP steels, will be presented.

Bio
Professor Elena Pereloma joined the University of Wollongong in January 2007 as a Professor of Physical Metallurgy and Director of BlueScope Steel Metallurgy Centre having previously been at Monash University, Melbourne (1995-2006), Queen’s University, Canada (1993-1995) and Institute for Metal Physics, National Academy of Sciences, Ukraine (1987-1992). From October 2011, she is a Founding Director of the UOW Electron Microscopy Centre. Professor Pereloma is internationally recognised expert in physical metallurgy of metals and alloys. She is also an expert in application of advanced experimental techniques, such as atom probe tomography and electron microscopy, to study solid state phase transformations, deformation and annealing processes. Professor Pereloma has published more than 200 scientific papers, was editor of two peer-reviewed conference proceedings and book “Phase transformations in steels”, and was invited and keynote speaker at numerous international conferences. She is currently on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Metallurgy and La Metallurgia Italiana, on the Advisory Board of ISIJ International, as well as a reviewer for a number of international journals and international grant bodies. She is recipient of several international awards including Honorary Doctor of Sciences and V.G. Kurdjumov Medal, 2012, Institute for Metal Physics, Ukraine.
