  简介:

ABSTRACT

This presentation aimed at mechanical behaviours under impact loading of metallic based cellular materials (honeycomb, foam, hollow spheres), which are promising structural materials used in lightweight structures, impact energy absorption, acoustical wave attenuation, etc. The presentation will focus on the understanding of different mechanisms responsible for strength enhancement observed under low speed impact (<20m/s) and those for relatively high impact speed (150m/s). Those two velocity range correspond respectively for two key fields of industrial application: Automotive and aeronautics.

Brief Biography

Dr. Han Zhao received his PhD in Solid Mechanics at Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in France in 1992. He was a research fellow at Ecole Polytechnique of France from1992 to 1993, then the research engineer in Foundation of Polytechnique and ARMINES of France during 1993 to 1998, and then the professor of University of Pierre & Marie Curie (Paris 6) of France from 1998. Dr. Zhao’s research areas includes: Mechanical properties of cellular materials; Compaction of granular materials; Rate sensitivity of materials (TRIP steel, polymer, laminates); Experimental measurement under impact loading; Impact dynamics of thin-wall structures; Impact resistance of riveted structures; High velocity penetration of sandwich shielding. He got the Jean Mandel Prize (Best young researcher in Mechanics) in 1999. He is the Oversea member of Review College of the Research Council of U.K (EPSRC, 2003-2006). He is the Chair (with N. Fleck) of ongoing IUTAM symposium on « Mechanical Properties of cellular materials» in 2007, the Co-chair (with W.Nowacki) of ongoing Euromech EMMC-symposium on « Multiphase or multicomponent materials under impact loading » in 2007. He is now the Head of research group “Dynamics & Process” in LMT, and the Head of ERN of European KMM-NoE network.
