In diverse application areas such as biomedical device design, semiconductor manufacturing, autonomous vehicles, and energy production, the greatest design challenges are often interdisciplinary.  A unified toolchain can bridge the divisions between electrical, mechanical, and control system design.

LabVIEW provides an integrated development environment for design, prototyping, and real-time deployment.  This presentation will include a discussion of the graphical system design paradigm for mechatronic systems.  Prof. Tomizuka will describe his controls and mechatronics research program and mechanical engineering teaching efforts at Berkeley.  Berkeley has leveraged LabVIEW and NI hardware in order to quickly design and prototype mechatronic systems for robotics, automotive, and aerospace appplications.
