简介: |
Long-period grating formed in a single-mode fiber or waveguide provides an effective means of coupling light from the core to the cladding of the fiber or waveguide at specific wavelengths. Being compact, low-loss, and low-reflection band-rejection filters, long-period gratings have found many applications in optical communications and sensing. This seminar discusses some of the most recent developments in long-period grating based devices at the City University of Hong Kong, which covers, in particular, the following studies:
- Fabrication of special long-period fiber gratings;
- Narrow-band optical filters based on coupling between a long-period fiber grating and a parallel fiber Bragg grating;
- Microwave photonic filters based on using a pair of long-period fiber gratings;
- Tunable long-period gratings in lithium-niobate waveguides;
- Planar long-period gratings for surface plasmons.
