简介: |
Biology is being transformed from a qualitative to a more quantitative science. With the fast advancement of new technologies, overwhelming amount of genomic data is being generated. To analyze these data, interdisciplinary approaches have been routinely applied to daily biological research. Many physicists consider it as a great opportunity to either develop theoretical solutions to biological problems or learn new physics from biological phenomena. I will give an overview of the interesting biological problems that are being currently studied by researchers from a physics background. The topics include computer modeling of protein folding and protein-protein interactions, identification of regulatory elements using statistical methods, deciphering regulatory logic of transcription factors in the genetic network and studying the systems properties of the biological networks. |
